This is my announcement for a fan comic project inspired by Sonic and The Black Knight! I'm working very hard alongside my partner to make this become a reality ♡

I was also extremely lucky to work with TheRandomGoon ! His performance as Lancelot is absolutely amazing!

We are cooking up a comic intro that is also narrated by our Lancelot, and im so excited to work on it and share it the moment we can! ♡

Honest to god, what happened in Sonic 3 only works because its Jimbotnik for 1 and not exactly canon to the games, for 2 we actually kinda see Eggman get praise from kin that's supposedly like him (Gerald) while still wanting to be an asshole so its not like this is changing him, and for 3 this was a risky ass move but the execution worked which resulted in this particular Eggman being humanized while also remaining an asshole. In short, the sonic movies successfully offered a different flavor of Eggman that Ian Flynn failed to do in the IDW comics while also not being Eggdad.

Clearly this iteration of Robotnik has never been your speed since you're a games!Eggman purist (With exceptions), but his wide praise is not unjustified because clearly something was done right.

I'm not saying it doesn't work in the realm of movie jimbotnik. I always felt that he was egotistical in the more classic secretly insecure with a chip on their shoulder type narcissist way, that game Eggman rather uniquely differs from by being genuinely secure and confident in his feelings of superiority. There's posts of me saying that about movie 1. It seems consistent within the movies, I'm just not personally a fan but it doesn't need to be for me

I just don't like when people see them as one in the same, when game Eggman is very different in just about every conceivable way, from his appearance to personality, childhood, beliefs, outlook, and expression. Which should be obvious but there are people who argue he's accurate to the games as a reason they think he's good but it's just not true. But I'm sure there are reasons people like him that don't depend on trying to say it's accurate

Frontiers' way of humanizing was much better fit for game Egg for because it doesn't go with him being insecure in childhood, only implying he was as bratty, confident and felt entitled to all the attention he wanted back then too because his narcissism and feelings of superiority already existed and was genuine and that's why he was bitter. And his value for Sage is also based on his ego for how she exists as proof of his genius

While a lot of the aspects of jimbotnik's arc kind of happen for the opposite reason- because he didn't feel that he got enough and that he's undesirable and insecure and wants to be able to bond with someone like Gerald and get attention that makes him feel more secure and validated in being able to relate to him and get his approval. The type of insecurity and developments jimbotnik has just wouldn't work with game Eggman, all I'm saying

Also, to say nothing about my own personal thoughts on adaptions and such, popularity isn't everything in general. In the Sonic movies/jimbotnik's case, there are many legitimate admitted reasons by people that make up big parts of why it's popular, that have nothing to do with writing/characterization/quality that lead to many liking it regardless. But people are entitled to their opinions of thinking the latter are good too

I'm not going to speak on whether it's unjustified or not as that's a matter of opinion and subjective on the grounds of adaptions that tend to divert from game canon (even though I personally wish for one game accurate adaption). I'm only relaying the facts of the differences between game Eggman and jimbotnik and saying the former is my personal preference and I personally wouldn't want him to be like jimbotnik and I'm happy he's not, as the things he has that jimbotnik does not are my reasons for liking him in the first place

Hi! What about sonics moral code appeals to you/how would you describe it?

Well I’m currently writing a in depth analysis but to give a brief explanation

Sonic believes that everyone should be free to be whoever they want to be, even bad guys. But also believes that once you interfere with others freedoms or restrict them that you’ve crossed a line and must be stopped. This belief even extends to the earth, thus why he hates people who want to destroy the planet.

That’s why he never kills people or puts them in jail, because he wants to give them a chance to let them choose to be good and killing them would take that choice away.

For me I think it’s a very good ideology to live by and do so myself. It can lead to problems when people make the wrong choices but as long as someone is there to save the day then it’s not a bad way to live and make choices by. Sonic at the end of the day is a preserver, he rights the wrongs of the systems he takes part in and protects the freedoms of the earth and it’s people. He the same as a force of nature, only lead by his strong moral code and not some “destiny” that he must follow.

Remaking this post cos it was kind of a mess the first time. IDW Sonic introjects/fictives/kins assemble!

Canon, canon divergent, noncanon character, who/whatever is welcome. We just want sourcemates to talk to. Yes even if you're Eggman or Dr. Starline or any other number of people most would call problematic or not want to interact with for whatever reason.

Our system currently contains; three Surges of varying canon adherence, Kitsunami, Sonic, Rouge, an Eggman, and the noncanon Yami of course.
